Your HVAC system keeps you and your family comfortable throughout the year. Sometimes it develops problems, though, which can be frustrating to address. Here are some common problems, some of which you can resolve on your own before calling a professional.
The filter in your air conditioning unit and filter needs to be changed during the seasons it is in use. A dirty filter can block air from flowing into your home. It also makes your HVAC system work harder than necessary. You should check your filter regularly and either clean or replace it, depending on whether it is reusable or replaceable.
While it may seem obvious, thermostat settings often cause people to believe their HVAC system is having serious problems. Check your thermostat’s settings to make sure someone didn’t change them, such as turning the switch to “heat” instead of “cool” in the middle of the summer.
Your HVAC system needs to receive regular maintenance from a professional to continue working efficiently. The parts are subject to wear and tear, causing them to break down over time. Yearly maintenance can catch problems early before they become a major headache.
Air Unlimited maintains HVAC systems in the Kansas City and Liberty region. We have provided maintenance services for furnaces and air conditioners since 2010.
Uneven Heating and Cooling
If a home has a room that is hotter than others in the summer and cooler in the winter, it’s because of one of two reasons. The room has an air leak, such as around a window. The other cause is a leak in the ductwork leading to the room, causing heat or air conditioning to escape into your crawlspace or attic instead of reaching the room.
